The channel won for its original programas Global Pinoy Unlimited and EntrePinoy Abroad
GMA’s flagship international channel GMA Pinoy TV adds another feather to its cap as it bagged two Silver Awards at the 2022 International Film Festival Manhattan (IFFM) for its original programs Global Pinoy Unlimited and EntrePinoy Abroad.
Winning Silver under IFFM’s News Category, Global Pinoy Unlimited is a short-form content that features what’s new in the global Pinoy community – highlighting community news, Pinoy headliners and their significant contributions to the community, as well as special kababayan and Kapuso happenings across the globe.
The award-winning episode, which aired on GMA Pinoy TV, was about the Historic Filipinotown Gateway in Los Angeles, California USA. The massive arch was the largest Filipino landmark in Los Angeles’ Historic Filipinotown and is officially called Talang Gabay (Our Guiding Star). The 30-foot-tall and 82-foot-wide steel arch gives tribute to all Filipino immigrants, as well as the outstanding contributions of the Filipinos in the community.
“We, at GMA Pinoy TV, are one with Global Pinoys who continue to dream and work for representation,” said GMA International Senior Vice President for Programming Cheri C. Domingo in her acceptance speech. “And this recognition of our content efforts aligned with that aspiration is very much inspiring and motivational for us. Thank you, International Film Festival Manhattan, for the Silver Awards for GMA Pinoy TV’s Global Pinoy Unlimited. I share this award with GMA International and GMA Program Support Teams who are behind this proudly Filipino content.
On the other hand, EntrePinoy Abroad – a digital series by GMA Pinoy TV, highlights the stories of Filipinos abroad who, despite the challenges of putting up their own business in a foreign land, continue to persevere and promote Filipino products to the world.
Earning a Silver under the Episodic Category was the feature on Filipina architect Evangeline Macasa Monjardin, a managing partner in an interior design and contracting company in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In the said episode, she shared her inspiring journey on how she transitioned from being an employee to putting up her own business. It was initially published on GMA Pinoy TV’s Facebook and YouTube pages and was aired on GMA Pinoy TV.
The International Film Festival Manhattan is an independent film festival that showcases a selection of world-class short films that are screened at several theater venues in Manhattan, New York City, USA. Now, in its 13th year, the award-giving body focuses on social relevance as part of its programming and goals as it creates an opportunity for filmmakers and artists to showcase their works in the Big Apple. This year’s IFFM awarding ceremony was held last November 12 and hosted by Luis Pedron.
