The telenovela by João Emanuel Carneiro is currently airing in TV Globos primetime slot and is one of the highlights for Mipcom.
Two women from different worlds, born on the same day, have their fates intertwined by chance years later, with consequences that forever change the course of their lives. This is how Crazy About You begins, one of Globos highlights at Mipcom 2024. With unexpected twists, transformation, and new beginnings, the telenovela was created and written by João Emanuel Carneiro, with artistic direction by Carlos Araujo, the same duo behind All The Flowers.
“João Emanuel Carneiro created one of our best-selling products, Brazil Avenue. His stories stand out in the international market, and we expect Crazy About You to be no different. We are excited to present the telenovela at Mipcom. It is a work that combines romance with thriller and touches of humor, featuring elements that will captivate both the national and international audience”, says Angela Colla, Head of International Business and Coproductions.
The plot is based on the friendship between two young women, Viola (Gabz from Perfect Love) and Luma (Agatha Moreira, from Hidden Truths), who seem destined to literally enter each other’s lives. The connection between them – immediate, strong, and genuine – shows that what unites them goes beyond their birthday and will even be capable of separating them, to the point where one will begin to live the dream – or nightmare – of the other. A journey divided between complicity and rivalry, which includes them in a love quadrangle with Mavi (Chay Suede, from A Mother’s Love) and Rudá (Nicolas Prattes, from All The Flowers), is impacted by a series of circumstances and surprises, including the secret surrounding a murder.
“Like many of my telenovelas, this one is about who is telling the truth. To what extent can we believe in the things we see and hear? The pieces of the plot will indeed move, and you will discover other angles. It is in this gray area that the characters of A Crazy About You operate”, says João Emanuel. “As with all of João Emanuel Carneiro’s works, the audience can expect many surprises and a constant duality. We have layers of the characters that will gradually be revealed throughout the chapters”, adds Carlos Araujo.
The cast also includes names like Adriana Esteves (Brazil Avenue), Alanis Guillen (Pantanal), Ana Beatriz Nogueira (All The Flowers), Rodrigo Lombardi (Hidden Truths), Eliane Giardini (Brazil Avenue), among others.
