Globo announced on Tuesday that its long-awaited co-production with Sony Pictures Television, The Angel of Hamburg, will finally premiere on December 20.
The premium series will air on broadcast TV under the title Passaporte Para Liberdade and its eight episodes will be broadcast for two weeks, from Monday to Thursday.
It will be the world premiere of the long-awaited series, which in Brazil will be seen in a version dubbed into Portuguese.
The Angel of Hamburg is Globo’s first co-production with Sony Pictures Television, having signed a three-title deal. The next title will be Rio Connection and the third is yet to be announced.
Starring Sophie Charlotte, The Angel of Hamburg was created and written by Mario Teixeira, in collaboration with English writer Rachel Anthony. The artistic direction is by Jayme Monjardim with direction by Seani Soares and production by Samantha Santos, Mariana Pinheiro and Fabiana Moreno.
The executive production, meanwhile, was in charge of Silvio de Abreu, Monica Albuquerque, Elisabetta Zenatti and Rachel Anthony.
The series, filmed in English, portrays the saga of the Brazilian Aracy de Carvalho, who risked her own life to save Jewish families in Germany during World War II.
The cast is completed by figures such as Tarcísio Filho, Gabriela Petry, João Cortês, Bruce Gomlevsky and Jimmy London.
Germany’s Peter Ketnath and Stefan Weinert, the UK’s Sinclair Spencer, Italy’s Jacopo Garfagnoli, Poland’s Izabela Gwizdak, Israel’s Sivan Mast and US stars Brian Townes also appear.
