Globo will have exclusive rights to the series in Brazil, where it will be available on Globoplay, and Fremantle will retain rights for the rest of the world.
Globo and Fremantle have today announced a co-production deal for new drama Crime Inc. The drama will be developed and produced by the award-winning Mixer Films and Fremantle.

The deal was brokered by Fremantle’s Head of Scripted Development, LATAM, Manuel Marti and Globo’s Head of Content of Digital Products, Tatiana Costa. It was during last year’s MIPCOM that the project was pitched.
Written by Dudu Nobre and Caio Cobra, and scripted by Marcos Osorio Vidal and Willy Van Broock, Crime Inc tells the story of Vagner and his father Marquinhos, one of the Rio de Janeiro mafia’s leaders. With fights between brothers and disputes over succession in the organized crime world, Vagner will do whatever it takes to become the first black leader of the Rio de Janeiro mafia after his father’s retirement.

The agreement is in line with Globo’s co-production strategy, which last year launched the series Rio Connection, in partnership with Sony and Floresta, and Codex 632, a co-production between Globoplay, RTP and SPi. The focus is on producing high-end content for the streaming platform.
