In addition to Africa, from July 2024, Côte Ouest will also distribute Globo’s content in France, Belgium and Switzerland.

With a successful partnership that has lasted more than 28 years, Globo and Côte Ouest have renewed in advance their content distribution agreement for more than 50 English and French speaking African countries.

In addition to Africa, from July 2024, Côte Ouest will also distribute Globo’s content in France, Belgium and Switzerland.

The renovation includes releases such as Land of Desire’ and Rebirth, and drama classics such as The Favorite, The Clone, Terra Nostra and India – A Love Story.

Since the partnership began, 61 Globo’s titles have been dubbed into French, totaling more than 5,500 hours of programming, and 31 into English, with more than 3,300 hours available in the catalog. In 2024 alone, Côte Ouest made eight sales agreements for Globo content. Currently, telenovelas such as Sweet Diva, Trail of Lies and the series Jailers are airing in Seychelles, Madagascar and Ivory Coast, respectively, through the partnership between the two companies.

To mark this renewal, for the first time Globo will be present with Côte Ouest at MIP Africa, which will be held in Cape Town from September 2 to 4. The companies will bring their main releases and classics to present to local partners.

Were very happy with this early renewal. It shows the commitment of Globo and Côte Ouest, which is one of our longest-standing partners, to bringing the best content to African countries. These are strategic territories for us, with a demand for classic titles, which is one of Globos differentials. They will have a catalog of more than 2,500 hours that can be distributed to OTT platforms”, comments Fábio Mauro, Content Distribution and Partnerships at Globo.

“We are so proud of this partnership that has been going on for more than a quarter century; Globo telenovelas bring so much freshness and diversity to our catalogue. They always take into account our recommendations regarding African audiences’ aspirations, and it is thanks to their expertise that the concept of Afro-Novelas arises. They bring so much mixity and diversity in the storyline that we Africans, recognize ourselves through these stories. The thematic in Globo’s telenovelas are related to climate change, environment, women’s empowerment, education, family and many others…”, says Awoua Keita, Head of Acquisitions at Cote Ouest.
