According to ProdPro’s report, 344 scripted productions, 130 TV series, and 214 feature films started shooting during the second quarter of 2024.
The number of film and television projects shot worldwide increased by 22% over the same period last year during the second quarter of 2024, according to data just released by ProdPro. According to ProdPro, which tracks production activity worldwide, these new levels are here to stay.
In the U.S. alone, audiovisual production activity was up 30% over the previous period, which coincided with the start of the screenwriters’ strike.
Although there have been increases this year, production activity is still 16% lower today than in 2022; in the United States, it is 37% lower.
In the second quarter, 344 scripted productions began principal photography worldwide, including 130 television series and 214 feature films. Television series were up 20% year-on-year.
