20 years after its first broadcast, the RCN Television telenovela continues to extend its reach, now adding a new season for Poland’s TVN.

The legend of Ugly Betty continues to expand, two decades after its first broadcast in Colombia.

The RCN Television production, which entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the most adapted telenovela in the world, will now have its first international sequel.

RCN closed an deal with Fremantle to produce the continuation of the story for TVN Discovery of Poland.

The Polish channel had adapted the fiction under the title Brzydula, released in October 2008 and broadcast over 235 episodes. The new season is expected to have 180 episodes.

This sequel joins the Colombian one, released in 2002 under the name Ecomoda.

“20 years after its first broadcast, Yo soy Betty, la fea is still a phenomenon in tune in Colombia. At RCN Televisión we recently broadcast a fourth edition and once again we became number one of the ratings in prime time of 2019,″ said María Lucía Hernández, director of International Sales at RCN.

Originally titled Yo soy Betty, la fea, the series is an original story by Fernando Gaitán, produced by RCN. Since its premiere, it has been broadcast in 180 countries, dubbed into 25 languages, and has had 19 adaptations worldwide.
