Querer will arrive on the platform in 2024 after 11 weeks of shooting that will last until January in different locations in Bizkaia. The series is a Movistar Plus+ original in collaboration with Kowalski Films and Feelgood Media.
Last Monday, October 23rd, shooting began in Bilbao on Querer, the first TV series to be directed by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, considered one of Spain’s most promising directors after winning the Goya for Best New Director for Cinco Lobitos (a film that won three Goyas).
After her recent national and international success, the director takes the step to television with this four-episode series that will arrive on Movistar Plus+ in 2024. This is an authorial project in which she brings her creative universe, of which she is also the creator and co-screenwriter.
The story is based on the life of Miren, a woman who, after 30 years of marriage and two children in common, leaves the marital home and denounces her husband for continuous rape. This severe accusation forces the children to choose between believing their mother or supporting a father who defends his innocence. A family journey that runs parallel to the judicial one with the same objective: to know the truth.
The series stars Nagore Aranburu (Irati, Intimidad, Loreak), Pedro Casablanc (B, la película), Miguel Bernardeau (1899, Élite), Iván Pellicer (Paraíso) and Loreto Mauleón (Los renglones torcidos de Dios, Patria).
Querer has Sergi Gallardo (La boda de Rosa) as director of photography; Zaloa Ziluaga (Ventajas de viajar en tren) is in charge of art direction and Marta Murillo (Els encantats) of costumes; Itziar García Zubiri (Dardara, Cholitas) is the production manager; Juan Moreno and Koldo Zuazua are the executive producers. Movistar Plus+ International will handle the distribution of the series.
