The Latin and British producers have optioned the rights to the book La historia de Dinamic through Scenic Rights, to develop into an original series.
London based Blackbox Multimedia and LatAm based EO Media today announce they have optioned the book La Historia de Dinamic through Madrid based agency Scenic Rights, and are developing it into a drama series.
The series, based on the amazing real story of Dinamic Software, is adapted from the novel La Historia de Dinamic by Jesús Martínez del Vas with the collaboration of the Ruiz brothers, who created a videogame empire from their parents’ house in the 1980s.
Not in Silicon Valley, like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs, but from the Spain post Franco, and in the middle of the vibrant Movida Madrileña. The series will explore a story that is greater than fiction, while showing how their innovation opened the door for the golden age of videogames and software.
Javier Olivares (The Ministry of Time, Infidels, Los Hombres de Paco) will be the Showrunner working together with co-writers Pablo Lara (The Ministry of Time, Tiempo de Confesiones, Encrucijada) and Bruno Teixidor (The Cosmonaut: Transmedia Experience, Nova).
The series will explore this story of brotherhood and rivalry, love and treason, amidst the buzz of the expanding video game industry in the 80s. A combination of We Crashed meets The Wolf of Wall Street meets Silicon Valley meets the family melodrama of Luis Miguel la serie; the series will delve into the historic technological advances of the Ruiz brothers. Author Jesús Martínez del Vas dedicated ten years of his life gathering information and interviews with those involved in the creation of Dinamic Software; and with forewords by the Ruiz brothers themselves, his novel incorporates the highly detailed history of the mythical Spanish video game company, it’s rise and fall, it’s triumphs and defeats.
