Produced by Sürec Film, the creators of hits like New Bride, Cennet and Cherry Season, the new Turkish drama will lead Eccho Rights’ catalog at the event in Cannes.
Eccho Rights will launch North Star (Kuzey Yildizi) for the international market at this year’s Mipcom, the latest drama series from Sürec Film in Turkey.
The series, which premiered on Show TV in Turkey last weekend as Saturday’s top rating drama series, is the latest in a long and successful collaboration between Sürec Film and Eccho Rights, with titles such as New Bride, Cennet and Cherry Season already sold to wide reaching international markets in recent years.
“We always look forward to presenting Sürec Film series to our buyers. As producers they understand what audiences want, filling their series with romance, colour and just a touch of humour. This latest title is a perfect example of this,” says Handan Özkubat, Director of Turkish Drama at Eccho Rights.
North Star is the story of Kuzey, who turned his back on his rural home as a young man, and moved to the city. Married, with three daughters and a great career, his move is justified until the day he loses his job and his wife leaves him.
Penniless and with nowhere left to go, he and his daughters pack up and set a course for his home village, where they must win over the family and community they have barely known. But once there, Kuzey encounters Yildizi, his childhood sweetheart, and starts to wonder if perhaps it was destiny rather than desperation that was calling him home.
“Eccho Rights have been a great partner for us internationally and we look forward to continuing this partnership with our latest series that we are very proud of,” says Ali Gundogdu, CEO of Sürec Film.
Sürec Film is one of Turkey’s leading production companies behind a string of hit titles including Cennet, Cherry Season, New Bride, Bitter Sweet Life, Foster Mother, Kacak and more.
