The international distributor has added two new titles from its mother company to its international slate: High Class and Hometown.
Eccho Rights announced it has added two new titles from mother company CJ ENM to its autumn slate: High Class and Hometown.
High Class features Cho Yeo-jeong, star of the Oscar-winning movie Parasite, as Song Yeo-wool, a successful lawyer falsely accused of murdering her husband. The accusation sees her ostracised by her peers, and starts to affect her son’s life at his prestigious elementary school. One of the other mothers from the school offers her support, and Yeo-wool’s fortunes look to be lifting, but all is not as it seems.
The series premiered on tvN in South Korea on 6th September.
Meanwhile, Hometown is a mystery thriller, following a small-town detective whose investigation into a missing child leads him towards finally solving the case of his murdered wife, with a terrorist cell seemingly behind both crimes. The series stars Han Ye-ri, who made her name in Minari, the Golden Globe-winning movie from 2020.
The series is also premiering on the South Korean network on 22nd September.
“These are two of the most high profile new series coming out of South Korea in 2021 and we are delighted to once more partner with CJ ENM on bringing K Drama to a global audience,” says Fredrik af Malmborg, Managing Director at Eccho Rights.
“Following the critical and commercial breakthrough enjoyed by Parasite in 2019, we are especially looking forward to seeing the international reaction to Cho Yeo-jeong’s next dramatic role.”
Sebastian Kim, Director of Content Sales at CJ ENM, adds: “We are happy to work with Eccho Rights with two of our most recommended series for the last half of the year. As Eccho Rights has solid experience for their specialized distribution of local language content, we believe that Hometown and High Class will reach to a wider audience around the world.”
Earlier this year Eccho Rights launched CJ ENM’s major summer series Doom at Your Servicec to the international market and has added several top new titles from the Korean media house to its slate, including L.U.C.A. The Beginning, Times, and Mouse which was picked up for the International Panorama at this year’s Series Mania festival.
