Announced in early 2023, Farah, the Turkish remake of the acclaimed Argentine series La chica que limpia (The Cleaning Lady), continues to be a star in Calinos Entertainment’s catalog for the international market.
“We have our new title, the Turkish version of La chica que limpia,” Duda Rodrigues, Sales Manager, LatAm at Calinos Entertainment, said to ttvnews at Content Americas.
The Turkish remake of the award-winning Argentine scripted series, Farah is the story of an Iranian woman, who had to flee her country and fights to live in Istanbul, working as a cleaning lady to be able to maintain her son’s treatment, but finds herself inadvertently in the middle of a war between the mafia and the police.
“The Turkish version is very well done with very well-known protagonists in LatAm. This version focuses more on the couple and the romance: she cleans in the first episodes and then falls in love with the gangster, and there begins the love story and the drama of her sick son,” the executive explained.
“We are presenting that title in LatAm and I am sure it will work very well,” she added.
Together with Farah, Calinos is presenting another Turkish drama with a female protagonist that already has its first screen guaranteed in Ecuador: “The second title is a shorter one produced in Turkey called Ego,” said the executive.
“It is a story of a very powerful woman in Turkey. She offers an official of hers 3 million dollars in exchange for sleeping with him for three nights and getting pregnant. It is a story that is not very common from a woman in the role of a villainess who bribes a man. It’s really very interesting.”
