Present at a new edition of Mipcom in Cannes, Mediacrest closed the second day with a special cocktail to announce the launch of a new business unit, dedicated to international production in Spain.

Called Mediacrest Global Production & Services, it will be led by Denis Pedregosa, Director of Services, and Mónica Guerrero, Production executive, who spoke with ttvnews during the presentation about their objectives for the new division.

“Mediacrest has had its focus on international from the beginning, doing projects with international partners, going abroad and bringing projects to Spain as well,” began Mónica Guerrero. “And this launch is a way of building upon this. Bringing more projects to Spain.”

“Although the division is new, it is a team that has a lot of experience, that has been producing many international projects in Spain. Our goal is to improve projects from international producers through Spain and what we can offer them there. From the production value that we have in Spain, things that we already know like locations and so on. But also with the whole structure of tax incentives.”

In this sense, the executive stressed that the group is willing to work with all kinds of partners. “We are very open to all kinds of projects. Maximum flexibility to adapt to the needs of each producer and each project,” she explained.

“I would add that the goal is to bring the best projects to Spain and produce them in the best possible way, as if they were produced in their country of origin,” added Denis Pedregosa.

“It’s a matter of know-how, quality, production value, structuring things well. We don’t just do the physical production part, but we also do the structuring. The project, from the moment we start thinking about where to film, to where it ends. The whole process, structuring, maximizing incentives… We are in every step,” listed the executive.

The launch also comes at a time of boom for Spain in terms of international content production.

“Spain doesn’t stop producing,” Guerrero summarized. “The incentives and filming are very good. In addition, each territory is trying to motivate and encourage people to go and film there. The Canary Islands have been doing so for a long time, but now also others like the Basque Country, Navarra…”

“International content continues to be produced in Spain,” Pedregosa said along the same lines. “Even before the incentives, a lot of filming was done in Spain, and now even more so. We’re seeing a greater volume of international projects that are also asking us to be more partners, in addition to just services. At the level of locations, structure, and creative.”

“That’s why it’s a time when it’s very important to find a good partner in Spain. Because the different places have good incentives, but you need a good partner who understands the structures and can guide you to produce in Spain,” Guerrero concluded.
