Following its launch in Mexico, the SVOD platform will travel to more countries across the region through Millicom.
CuriosityStream, the SVOD platform created by John Hendricks, founder of Discovery Channel, announced an alliance with Millicom to launch in nine countries in Latin America.
The SVOD platform presents a catalog of 2800 titles, which cover several genres, including science, history, nature, cooking and lifestyle, among others.
The platform already launched in Mexico this year through Totalplay.
“We are in a high growth trajectory given the quality of our programming, our low cost compared to other providers and the great desire for factual content,” said Clint Stinchcomb, president and CEO of CuriosityStream.
“I think our growth is attributed to the flexibility we offer our affiliates through a membership fee that allows distributors to use our content as they wish to support their income and growth strategies.”
In addition to the alliance with Millicom, CuriosityStream has several affiliates that have implemented its distribution plan, including Altice USA and Suddenlink in the US, StarHub in Singapore, Airtel in India, DStv of Multichoice in Africa, Liberty Global / FLOW in the Caribbean and REV TV in Cable Bahamas.
CuriosityStream reported that, by the end of Q1 2020, its programs are projected to be available in more languages, including Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin and Cantonese.
