The seventh edition of the event began yesterday with record numbers of participation.
The seventh edition of Conecta Fiction & Entertainment was inaugurated last night during a magical evening at the Cigarral Vineyard in Santa María, with the presence and interventions of the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment of the Castilla-La Mancha Community Board, Patricia Frank; the Project Director of ICEX-Invest in Spain, Javier Yraola; and the Director of the event Géraldine Gonard. All of them offered warm words of welcome to the institutional representatives, participants and the press gathered.
Patricia Franco made the announcement of the night by confirming that the next edition of the event will again be hosted in Castilla-La Mancha: «Next year we will have the pleasure of welcoming you again, since Toledo will once again host what will be the 8th edition of Connect Fiction & Entertainment».
She stressed the importance that the audiovisual sector has for her government: “We have the power, the determination and the decision that Castilla-La Mancha is a relevant actor in the audiovisual industry.”
Lastly, she thanked ICEX and Conecta Fiction & Entertainment for believing in the region and for the opportunity that this event offers them by highlighting it in front of the international audiovisual industry.
For his part, Javier Yraola, Director of Projects at ICEX-Invest in Spain, recalled during his speech that ICEX has been working and supporting the Spanish audiovisual sector for more than 30 years and how, thanks to the Spain Audiovisual Hub, ICEX has tripled not only the number of activities organized for Spanish companies but also the number of investors and producers who have filmed in Spain in the last year.
Géraldine Gonard expressed her gratitude to Castilla-La Mancha for its strong support and for the confirmation of the new edition; to ICEX for joining us this year with such a broad and compelling programme; and to the professionals for the magnificent reception this year, which she declared, “will be the most numerous of those held to date, we have a record number of participants, close to a thousand”.
