The distributor will be present in Cannes to showcase a selection of new and returning dramas and factual content.
Cineflix Rights has unveiled its Miptv 2022 slate of new and returning dramas and factual content from some of the world’s most creative producers, as the distributor returns to its regular stand location in the Palais des Festivals for the first time since Mipcom 2019.
Cineflix Rights’ growing scripted slate is headed up by new supernatural dramedy Reginald the Vampire (10×60’, Great Pacific Media, Modern Story, December Films, and Cineflix Studios for Syfy, US). Starring Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: No Way Home) as the unlikely titular hero, the series turns traditional vampire tropes on their head while draining the blood from modern-day beauty standards. Inspired by Johnny B. Truant’s Fat Vampire novels, the series also stars Mandela Van Peebles (Mayor of Kingstown) and Em Haine (Fargo). Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks, Chucky) is showrunning and Jeremiah Chechik (Shadowhunters, Diabolique) is the lead director.
Sugar (1×90’, Connect3 Media and Sepia Films) is a feature thriller inspired by the dramatic real-life story of the “Cocaine Cowgirls”, two young Canadian influencers on a dream trip which turns into a nightmare when they become entangled in a deadly drug smuggling operation. Starring Katherine McNamara (Shadowhunters, Maze Runner: The Death Cure), Jasmine Sky Sarin (Perfect High), Armand Assante (Gotti), and Éric Bruneau (Coroner).
They join returning seasons of Irvine Welsh’s Crime, the acclaimed author’s riveting adaptation of his best-selling novel for BritBox; renowned Israeli police corruption drama, Manayek; Acorn TV’s cozy crime series Whitstable Pearl; Berlinale Series 2020 Official Selection Happily Married; and highly-rated global hit Coroner.
New factual series launching at Miptv include Dream Home Makeovers with Sophie Robinson, (6×60’, Pi Productions and Motion Content Group for Channel 5, UK) which follows the interior design guru as she pushes brave homeowners just beyond their comfort zones to create eye-popping interiors that are cozy to live in and amazing to look at.
Descent of a Serial Killer (10×60’, Peninsula Television for CBS, Reality, UK, Eire, Africa, and Poland) investigates why serial killers become what they are and how investigators can often miss key indicators in tracking them down. Former FBI agent and Professor of Criminology Bryanna Fox applies her professional expertise and in-field experience to analyse data about serial killers right across the United States.
They sit alongside returning seasons of globally successful brands like Richard Hammond’s Workshop; My Floating Home; The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys; Inside Taronga Zoo; Ainsley’s Good Mood Food; Homicide: Hours to Kill; Killer Cases; Ambulance Code Red; 24-hour Baby Hospital; and Property Brothers: Forever Home.
