Deploying one of the most coveted catalogues in Spain and the international market, Onza Distribution is experiencing another very busy Mipcom, with many announcements of sales for its fictions to partners in multiple territories.

During the event, the group announced the sale of several notable titles from its catalogue to Portugal, Romania, Croatia, Latvia and Mozambique. Among the most relevant productions are soap operas such as Cacao and Para Siempre and recent hits such as Perverso, Flores sobre el infierno, Atasco and Los mil días de Allende.

And it is precisely Cacao -which managed to score another sale to Croatia and has now reached over 70 countries- one of the titles that has brought the most satisfaction to the Spanish group. “We are very happy with how Cacao is doing,” Carlos Garde, general manager of Onza Distribution, began in a conversation with ttvnews.

“It has been sold to Mediaset in Spain, many countries in Eastern Europe, we have also sold it in Africa… And we are talking to various broadcasters and platforms in Latin America to choose which platform will keep the rights to Cacao in the region,” revealed the director.

“It is an impressive drama. It has worked very well, being the audience leader in Portugal,” he added.

And with the mission of following in the footsteps of Cacao, the executive announced their next Portuguese novel: “Now another new drama is coming called A Fazenda (The Color of Love), which comes with some impressive images. It has been filmed in Africa, with spectacular landscapes,” he explained, adding: “We are very excited and confident that it will be a series that will be as successful, if not more so than Cacao.”

Looking to the future, the executive highlighted the work carried out in 2024, which will allow them to enjoy a great catalogue for 2025.

“We have brought very powerful productions this year and we have also expanded Onza’s activities in the Americas to bring productions to Spain, as well as to make co-productions with Latin America and the US. We are very happy with the number of productions we have for 2025,” he explained.

Another point to explore next year for Onza Distribution is the US market, where they hope to have more presence through English-language productions. “We have been in the Audiovisual From Spain pavilion for many years, we have always had our own stand. We are very happy with the support that ICEX gives us in all markets. Now we are very interested in growing in the US in English, doing projects in English.”

“We are interested in the US markets. I think that Content Americas, Natpe or LA Screenings are the markets that we usually go to, but we are strengthening our presence in these markets, with greater visibility. And exploring others that may exist in the territory,” he concluded.
