In times of change, with international audiences looking for classic stories and nostalgia running strong, Caracol Televisión seeks to revive the most iconic productions on the small screen with a strong commitment to remakes.
“We brought several hits,” Karen Juliao, Strategic Alliances Manager at Caracol TV, began in dialogue with ttvnews from LA Screenings. “The first is the return of Pedro el Escamoso, who returns in a new story with an explosive duo that is Carlos Torres and Miguel Varoni.”
In this remake, after living twenty years abroad, the protagonist of the story returns to his homeland to find a completely different reality from the one he left behind when he was forced to seek new horizons. To his surprise, he discovers that his son has become a successful and prosperous professional, forcing him to invent a series of stories in order to hide what has been a life of sacrifice and deprivation and gain the respect and admiration of Pedro Junior.
“It will air on Disney+ for LatAm and Caracol TV for Colombia,” explained the executive.
“The second very important news is the remake of Nuevo Rico, Nuevo Pobre,” she revealed. “We are going to remake the 2007 series. It is a very successful story, which has traveled very well. It was on Netflix recently and now we bring it with a new cast, empowered, international, with all the new technology. It is updated over time, with new twists in the story”.
“We are finishing pre-production and production will begin in June,” added Angela Vergara, Executive Production Manager of Caracol TV.
Rodrigo Triana and Juan Carlos Vásquez direct a stellar cast headed by Variel Sánchez, Juan Guilera, Lina Tejeiro and Laura Barjum. They are joined by Ricardo Mejía, John Alex Toro, Julián Caicedo, Laura Taylor, Marcela Agudelo, Clary Borja and Martha Restrepo.
The original 2007 series is currently available on Netflix, where upon its debut in 2021 it ranked among the top 10 most-watched programs in more than 19 countries.
In addition to the remakes, Caracol is presenting two original productions with great potential. The first is Klass 95, the new story of Juana Uribe. “It is a story based on the real life of a woman who created the first international modeling agency, at the time when beauty became a topic in Colombia because several Colombians remained beauty queens, but it was also the time of drug trafficking. This is the story of this woman who wants to create her agency and has a forbidden love, because she falls in love with her personal trainer. It is a classic love story but with events that happened in real life,” Vergara explained.
“And we are in full production of Escupiré sobre sus tumbas, it’s going to be a bomb,” she added. “It has a love line like all our stories, it is based on a 1950 book but adapted to modern times.”
The series has an international cast, led by the Spanish actor Cristian Gamero (Luis Miguel, the series) and the Puerto Rican actress Essined Aponte (Nicky Jam, El Ganador) who give life to this story, framed in the world of the port elite. of the Colombian Caribbean. A melodrama with a high dose of thriller in which each chapter will have an unexpected twist for the audience.
Finally, yesterday, Caracol presented El Mundo Caracol on Roblox and Fabrica de Influencers, two experiences developed with artificial intelligence. A service that will be available to your clients, so that your audiences can interact with your brand.
“They are digital services that we offer to our clients so they can make 360 strategies,” Juliao concluded.
