The new acquisitions include the Dungeons & Dragons Magic & Stuff series and two new Latin Spanish-language animated shorts, Puerco y Babosa and El Mundo de Boggs.

BuzzFeed Studios has announced that its Animation Lab, home to successful short-form animated channels on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, is expanding its current roster of content with a new live-action Dungeons & Dragons series, Magic & Stuff, and two new Latino Spanish-language programs, Puerco y Babosa and El Mundo de Boggs.

Magic & Stuff is produced for BuzzFeed Studios by creators and executive producers Elisabeth Riley and Meredith Kesh, director Derek Benig, and Jun Zee Myers, Head of the Animation Lab. Premiering May 31, 2024, on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, it is BuzzFeed’s first D&D show led by a cast of queer women.

The groundbreaking animated series Puerco y Babosa introduces audiences to the vibrant world of Latino culture like never before, capturing the essence of growing up Chicano. It is the first animated series dedicated to Latino parenting in the United States, focusing on sibling rivalry. The series’ commitment to authenticity can be seen in the team behind the cameras, who proudly represent the Latino community, ensuring genuine storytelling that resonates with audiences. The shorts are now available on YouTube and TikTok.

Puerco y Babosa is produced for BuzzFeed Studios by BuzzFeed Animation Lab and BuzzFeed’s Latino identity brand, Pero Like, and is led by creator and showrunner David Munguia, producers Joey Martinez and Teddy Villa, and executive producer Jun Zee Myers.

El Mundo de Boggs is a Spanish-dubbed and subtitled version of the popular social short film The Land of Boggs. It is part of a broader initiative to expand Animation Lab’s properties into new territories and languages. BuzzFeed Animation Lab showrunner Brent Sievers produces the series for BuzzFeed Studios.

Zee Myers, Director of the BuzzFeed Studios Animation Lab, said, “We are thrilled to announce our exciting new animated properties for 2024: Magic & Stuff, Puerco y Babosa, and El Mundo de Boggs. The BuzzFeed Animation Lab has seen great success and explosive growth for our animated properties, and our new class of creators are making wonderful diverse content for 2024 – I can’t wait to share them with old and new fans.”
