With the sea and the desert in the background, David Bisbal tells his own story in the days leading up to the concert that celebrates his 20-year music career, in his native Almería.
Movistar Plus+ announced the premiere of the new original documentary, Bisbal, about the life and work of music icon David Bisbal.
Produced with Dadá Films & Entertainment (Raphaelismo, Supergarcía) and Universal Music Spain (GTS Entertainment), the documentary will premiere in October.
David Bisbal celebrates 20 years of his career and he wants to celebrate it in Almería, his native land, with a big concert close to his family. The camera fixes on him, follows him, accompanies him during the days leading up to what will be the most emotional concert of his life. And during this maelstrom, with the sea and the Almería desert in the background, David looks back and remembers who he is and where he’s come from: from singing in a band in one festival after another, dreaming of performing on other stages and a musical talent contest that changed how he became famous forever.
Looking back, David recalls his time at OT on the TV talent show (Operación Triunfo), but also the hostility with which he was received by a music industry in crisis, and his battle, not only to hold his place, but to gain credibility within it.
David takes us back to his roots and that is where we understand why, despite his success, he continues to be the hero of the people. He is the artist who climbed up from humble beginnings. And how, from a place so far away from everything, he is able to achieve something that is reserved for very few: that everybody knows your songs and they remain in the collective memory forever. That’s the real success, and David has already achieved it.

With this new work directed by Alexis Morante (Sanz: What I was is what I am, Heroes: Silence and Rock & Roll, Camarón. The Film), Movistar Plus+ continues with its editorial line of non-fiction, with original products that tell our stories from a different point of view.
Bisbal is a documentary with never-before-seen archive images and testimonials from the artist, who opens up like never before. His story is a story of overcoming adversity.
