The group announced sales to France, South Korea, and the Middle East; and presented the official trailer for its second season.
Just in time for the wedding anniversary of Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander, Beta Film’s Maxima (12x1h) is gearing up for the second season.
The series has been a global success, being sold to 85 territories, including HBO Max in France, LGUPlus in South Korea, Dubai TV for the Middle East and Northern Africa, and Nova in Greece and Cyprus. It was previously announced that Maxima was sold to HBO Max in Latin America, SBS in Australia, and to Scandinavia and German-speaking territories, among others.
Furthermore, Beta Film and Millstreet Films have released the trailer for the second season of Maxima, which will be released on Videoland in the Netherlands on 14 March, followed by other territories.
The first season of Maxima, produced by Millstreet Films in co-production with FBO and Beta Film, broke records on RTL Netherlands’ streaming service Videoland, achieved superb ratings on Rai in Italy, TV2 in Denmark and Atresmedia in Spain, and ranked in the Top 10 on HBO’s streaming service Max in Latin America for multiple weeks.
Following their romantic engagement at the end of season one, Maxima and Willem-Alexander’s love reaches new heights as they prepare for the most important day: their wedding. However, the road to ‘happily ever after’ is never smooth. Caught between her ambitions and new family dynamics, Maxima struggles to establish her position within the royal house. From here on out, up to the coronation ten years later, she must find the delicate balance between living her true self and embracing the responsibilities of a mother and a future queen.
Beta Film will present the new seasons to international buyers at the London TV Screenings in February.
