Having premiered just last week as the best premiere in seven years in Turkish television, the drama stands as the star of ATV Distribution’s catalog for the market.

In a highly competitive market such as the Turkish TV landscape, broadcasters and distributors are always paying close attention to the numbers whenever a new show premieres, especially in prime time.

And while competition might be tough, ATV was confident they had a gem on their hands when they premiered A.B.I. (A Broken Inheritance). And they were quickly proven right, as the drama, which premiered on January 13, ranked as the number one program across all rating categories, achieving the highest-rated series premiere in the last 7 years in Total Individuals.

The premiere delivered outstanding results across key audience segments, achieving 9.81 rating and 23.83 share in Total, 7.37 rating and 19.79 share in AB, and 9.98 rating and 23.75 share in 20+ABC, confirming its broad and high-value audience appeal.

“We did receive very good results”, celebrated Müge Akar, Head of Sales at ATV Distribution, in conversation with ttvnews at the current edition of Content Americas. “It was almost 25% share on the first episode, which is the best premiere of the last seven years. It’s a very good start for the first episode”.

A.B.I. stars two of Turkey’s most celebrated actors, Kenan Imirzalıoğlu and Afra Saracoglu, along with a renowned cast. “Why I think it’s worked is because the casting is very good”, she said. “We have very good actors. Kenan and Afra are both big names in Turkey. Along with other cast members as well”.

“It’s a huge production, a very high budget production for prime time. We have the best writers and a great storyline. So I am happy to see its success,” she added.

A.B.I. follows Dogan, a successful surgeon living in Izmir who severed ties with his powerful family years ago after a traumatic incident involving his father, Tahir Hancıoglu. Leaving Istanbul behind meant leaving both his family and his childhood, allowing him to build a life devoted solely to saving lives. His only remaining connection to his past is his younger sister, Melek.

After years of absence, Dogan returns to Istanbul at Melek’s request to attend his sister Gulusan’s wedding, a visit that reopens old wounds and exposes long-hidden family secrets. During this time, he meets Cagla, a determined young lawyer shaped by her sister Mahinur’s unresolved trauma. As their paths cross, a deep bond forms between them.

An attempted murder on the wedding night becomes a turning point, drawing Dogan into a dangerous web of secrets, betrayal, and suspicion, where even members of his own family emerge as suspects. Now, Dogan must decide whether to leave once again or stay and confront the dark truth at the heart of his family.

ATV believes the title is so good that they’ve already dubbed the trailers and the first episode in Spanish, to showcase it to buyers in Latam. “We already have three deals in other territories, but we will announce them a little bit later on”, she revealed.

Along with A.B.I., ATV Distribution is also presenting other successful drama from its catalog, such as The Ottoman: Orhan; Waves of Love, a good option “for platforms and channels looking for shorter series”; or The Nightfall, which “is growing in Latin America”, reaching territories like Chile, Panama and Mexico very soon.
