Ricardo Darín and Kenya Films return to Netflix with Lo dejamos aquí. Leyenda Films & Kuarzo International Films, bring El último gigante.
Netflix redoubles its commitment to Argentine narrative by announcing two new feature films that begin production this month: Lo dejamos acá and El último gigante. These two new feature films join the already announced Parque Lezama.
Lo dejamos acá – Starring Ricardo Darín and Diego Peretti, directed by Hernán Goldfrid, written by Emanuel Diez, and produced by Kenya Films. The film centers on a pragmatic psychoanalyst (Darín) who loses faith in traditional psychological methods and begins crossing ethical lines with his patients. Everything seems to work—until a creatively blocked writer (Peretti) enters his practice.
El último gigante – Directed and written by Marcos Carnevale and produced by Leyenda Films & Kuarzo International Films, this film stars Oscar Martínez, Matías Mayer, Inés Estévez, Luis Luque, Silvia Kutika, and Yoyi Francella. The story follows Boris, a charismatic tour guide who unexpectedly reunites with his father Julián, who abandoned him 28 years ago. Through tense and emotional encounters, the two explore past wounds, resentment, and the possibility of forgiveness.
These two new feature films join the previously announced Parque Lezama, which started production this month. Written and directed by Juan José Campanella and produced by 100 Bares Producciones, the film stars Luis Brandoni and Eduardo Blanco, with a supporting cast including Claudia Fontán, Agustín “Rada” Aristarán, Manuela Menéndez, Alan Fernández, and Matías Alarcón.
The film tells the story of the unlikely friendship between a lifelong Communist activist and a man who prefers to stay out of politics. From a bench in Parque Lezama, Antonio Cardozo and León Schwartz share conversations full of laughter, tenderness, and emotion while navigating conflicts with others in the park and their own families. The film is an adaptation of the successful Argentine stage play of the same name, based on I’m Not Rappaport by American playwright Herb Gardner.
“Our commitment to Argentina is unwavering. We are passionate about being part of the audiovisual creation of this incredible country, promoting its cinema both within and beyond its borders. We will continue offering the highest-quality entertainment to our members and showcasing the best of Argentina through its films, which are unique and globally acclaimed. I’m especially proud to strengthen our collaboration with Ricardo Darín, with Kenya Films, and with Juan José Campanella, with whom we are already working on two projects. We hope they find a home at Netflix,” said Francisco Ramos, Vice President of Content for Latin America.
Major premieres also coming to Netflix in 2025 (previously announced) include 27 noches, directed by Daniel Hendler and starring Marilú Marini, Carla Peterson, and Hendler himself. Corazón Delator / The Heart Knows, starring Benjamín Vicuña and Julieta Díaz, and directed by Marcos Carnevale, is arriving on May 30.
Following their theatrical release in Argentina, the following films will also arrive on Netflix this year: La mujer de la fila / The Woman in the Line, starring Natalia Oreiro, Alberto Ammann, and Amparo Noguera, directed and written by Benjamín Ávila; Miss Carbón, starring Lux Pascal and Paco León, directed by Agustina Macri; and Risa, starring Diego Peretti, Joaquín Furriel, and Cazzu, featuring the debut of Elena Romero, and directed by Juan Cabral.
In addition to these fiction titles, a new documentary currently in post-production explores the infamous case of Yiya Murano. Directed by Alejandro Hartmann and produced by Haddock Films and Vanessa Ragone — the team behind The Photographer and the Postman: The Crime of Cabezas and Carmel: Who Killed María Marta?— this new documentary once again delves into one of Argentina’s most intriguing criminal cases.
These productions join recently released series such as El Eternauta (The Eternaut), Envidiosa (Envious), and Atrapados (Caught), as well as upcoming titles such as División Palermo Season 2 (Community Squad), Envidiosa (Envious) Season 3, and En el barro, a spin-off of El marginal.
