The thriller has also been picked up by Canal+ in France and Poland, Telia Lithuania and Estonia, Tet and Latvijas Mobilais Telefons in Latvia, and HOT in Israel.

Global content producer and distributor Keshet International (KI) has completed a raft of sales for its compelling military thriller Conflict ahead of its world premiere on MTV Finland later this year.

One of the buzziest dramas previewed at the 2024 London TV Screenings – where K7 described the rough cut as “heart-pounding” and “the most impressive drama of the week for us” – Conflict explores the possibility of a proxy war breaking out in Europe.

KI has completed licensing deals for this English-dominant multi-language six-part drama to CANAL+ in France and Poland, AMC Networks International in Spain and Portugal, Telia Lithuania in Lithuania, Telia Estonia in Estonia, Tet and Latvijas Mobilais Telefons in Latvia, and HOT in Israel. Other active negotiations are still in progress.

Pilar de las Casas, VP of Series & Cinema, AMC Networks International Southern Europe comments, “Conflict is one of those action-driven dramas that compels you to keep watching as the story unfolds. With its international cast and live-action sequences that feel incredibly real, we think our viewers will love it.”

Kelly Wright, KI’s MD of Distribution, says: “Conflict has everything buyers and viewers are looking for right now, so I’m not surprised we are closing deals before officially launching this title at MIPCOM. Our clients are really responding to Conflict’s ripped-from-the-headlines plot; it’s English-dominant script and fantastic international cast; it’s thrilling action sequences and strong, relatable female lead characters; as well as its faceless “enemy” who remains unknown throughout. It’s must-watch TV!”

Co-created and produced by Andrei Alén and Aku Louhimies (Unknown Soldier, Rebellion, Inheritance), the multi-award-winning film director who also series directs this six-part series, and produced by Backmann & Hoderhoff and XYZ Films, Conflict (6×60’) stars an international cast that includes Peter Franzén (Vikings, The Gunman, Purge), Dylan Smith (Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Mazerunner: The Death Cure), Nadia Forde (Once Upon a Time in London), Sara Soulié (The Man Who Died) and Larry Lamb (Eastenders, Superman).

As a military unit of conscripts completes its training on Midsummer’s Eve, an unidentified enemy invades the picturesque Finnish peninsula. With foreign nationals amongst the 10,000 people now held hostage in the occupied area, the US President and other allies urge Finland’s newly elected President to take decisive action. Faced with the very real threat of a proxy war, President Saaristo (Sara Soulié) must follow her instincts and moral compass to not only secure the safety of her people, but to also prevent escalation into Europe and a global conflict.

Co-created and produced by Andrei Alén and Aku Louhimies (Unknown Soldier, Rebellion, Inheritance), the multi-award-winning film director who also series directs this six-part series, Conflict is produced by Backmann & Hoderoff, in association with XYZ Films, with backing from Business Finland and the City of Hanko. Nick Spicer, Aram Tertzakian, Maxime Cottay, and Marci Wiseman are executive producers for XYZ. Keshet International is distributing both the 6×60’ series and the format of Conflict on the global TV market.

Conflict is headlining KI’s MIPCOM 2024 slate, which includes its buzziest line-up of scripted content to date: two of the 10 dramas selected for the 2024 MIP Drama Showcase, Snapper Films mystery thriller Valhalla Project and Artza Productions’ crime drama The 11th Body (formerly known as Palo Alto); Keshet 12’s romcom Save the Date (Bekarov Etzli); two high-profile international dramas produced by KI entities, Rough Diamonds (co-produced by De Mensen and Keshet International for Netflix and VRT) and Echo 3 (produced by Keshet Studios for Apple TV+); and TV JOJ’s sophisticated thriller Too Much Love.

With a well-located stand in Riviera 7 (R7:K22), KI is returning to Cannes with its biggest delegation since 2019 and an autumn slate brimming with gripping entertainment to match.
