NBCUniversal has acquired the first season of the show’s US version for the region.
Leading independent distributor All3Media International has announced The Traitors has also found its first faithful partner in Latin America as NBC Universal Latin America acquired the first season of Peacock’s Emmy winning version.
Produced by Studio Lambert, Peacock’s first season was recently awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program, and the second season recently returned to screens in the US as Peacock’s most-watched reality premiere, streaming reach is up more than 75% from Season 1*.
Set in a remote castle in the Scottish Highlands with Scottish-born actor and presenter Alan Cumming, celebrities and civilians come together to complete a series of challenges with the objective of earning a cash prize of up to $250,000. The twist on this reality show is that three contestants will be coined traitors whilst the others are faithfuls. The traitors will have to steal the prize from the others and eliminate fellow contestants without being found out.
Yari Torries VP Latin America at All3Media International commented: “The dramatic, addictive, immersive world of The Traitors offers perfect viewing for audiences across the region and I’m thrilled that NBC Universal are our first partner to bring The Traitors to Latin America”.
Internationally The Traitors has become a ratings hit and multi-award winning format. This year the format was awarded C21’s International Format Award for Best Host of a Television Format. The BBC’s series was awarded 2 BAFTAs, Peacock’s US version received an Emmy nomination and HBO Max’s Spanish version recently received 5 prestigious Iris Awards nominations.
