All3Media International announced the varied fiction lineup it will present during Mipcom 2024. The distributor will bring dazzling real-life dramas, thrillers, and detective series to Cannes, including captivating, high-quality stories by genre-leading creatives and A-list talent.

Returning series favorites include the acclaimed coming-of-age drama Boarders, the gripping domestic thriller The Ex-Wife, and the heartwarming All Creatures Great and Small, now returning for a fifth season with more enchanting stories from the Yorkshire Dales.

Dramas based on true events

First up is Joan, the true story of the UK’s most famous jewel thief, Joan Hannington. This lavish fall premiere from the award-winning team at Snowed-In Productions, starring Sophie Turner, recently premiered on ITV in the UK and the CW in the US.

It is a gripping story of high stakes and personal transformation in which a woman pushes herself to the limit to become an expert jewel thief.

Also on All3Media International’s slate for Mipcom is the critically acclaimed audience sensation The Gold, inspired by the 1983 Brink’s-Mat heist. With a star-studded cast, including Hugh Bonneville, and a second season on the way, this drama delves into the decades-long aftermath of the historic crime.

Thrillers on the list

Celebrated filmmaker Ben Wheatley makes his TV debut with Generation Z, a darkly humorous thriller that promises a bold coming-of-age story set in today’s bizarre world. The series, which has an all-star cast including Sue Johnston, Anita Dobson, and Robert Lindsay, is coming soon to Channel 4.

All3Media’s slate of thrillers also includes stellar performances, including Martin Clunes in Out There, a dark crime drama by the team behind Manhunt.

Happy Valley’s Siobhan Finneran stars in Protection, a suspenseful thriller with twists and turns that takes audiences into the complex and fascinating world of witness protection, where nothing is as it seems.

Australian Thrillers

Distributors have dynamic thrillers from a celebrated new wave of Australian filmmakers. Justin Kurzel’s Exposure is a haunting psychological thriller starring Alice Englert as Jacs, a photographer who is grieving the loss of her friends and confronting a dark past.

Critical Incident, from Matchbox Pictures, offers a gripping take on juvenile justice in Western Sydney, with an outstanding young cast.

Recent releases also available in the market include Dead and Buried, a darkly humorous psychological thriller starring Split’s Annabel Scholey and Merlin’s Colin Morgan, Captivated, and The Night Caller, two four-part thrillers full of twists and surprises.

Local adaptations of the thriller catalog

Highlights include Informant, the German version of Neal Street’s complex political thriller The Informer, and Two Brothers Pictures’ Boat Story and The Tourist, with Indian versions of both currently in development.

All3Media International’s renowned crime series will welcome Ellis. Starring three-time Olivier Award winner Sharon D. Clarke as Inspector Amma Ellis, a black policewoman whose determination and compassion make her a first-class detective who has spent her career being discarded and overlooked.

Fans can also look forward to new seasons of crime series such as Black Snow, Black Sands, Brokenwood Mysteries, Dalgliesh, Ridley and Mystery Road.
