Experts in the FAST universe, FilmRise was present in Cannes for the new edition of Mipcom with a unique view of the growth of the model in the region and the international market.
“We were one of the first ones in FAST,” Alejandro Veciana, Senior Manager, International Content Sales at FilmRise, told ttvnews. “I think FilmRise has the experience and the track record of knowing what works and what doesn’t. The challenge is finding this content and creating channels,” he explained.
“We know the content that works in FAST. Just because you have content that everyone recognizes doesn’t mean it would work in FAST. FAST requires a specific type of content. It’s a different way of viewing content,” he added.
The executive also highlighted their alliance with Xumo, with whom they can “distribute channels very easily.”
“We also have the advantage of having volume, we have a lot of channels, we are in more than 100 channels in the world. And with Xumo we have been able to collaborate and expand our FAST channel offering, which is growing more and more,” he explained.
Based on this experience, the executive notes a big difference in the market with respect to his knowledge of the FAST world. “I think this year buyers have come with the intention of doing business. It shows. There are many platforms. Many FAST channels. A lot of competition. A FAST and AVOD market that is becoming more and more mature. We like to see more and more people interested in FAST in Latam and Europe. Three or four years ago, that was a bit unknown and now everyone knows what it is and is in the business. It has gone very well,” said the executive.
And in regards to Latam specifically, Veciana says it is only a matter of time. “In Latam you have to be patient. It is a market that is growing little by little, but it is growing. At FilmRise we see that as long as there is growth, and it is a constant growth, we are calm. I think that monetization will come. The audience is there. That is the most important thing. The audience, the engagement, the views. And it is a matter of time. We are not the only ones who see this. There is a lot of potential in Latam, we have it quite under control,” he concluded.
