The Spanish version will be called López y Leal contra el canal and produced by Boxfish for Atresmedia Televisión. The program will premiere on Antena 3 in 2024.

Red Arrow Studios International’s hit format Beat the Channel is coming to Spain through the agreement the company has signed with production company Boxfish for a local version to be called López y Leal contra el canal, which will be produced for Atresmedia Televisión.

The original Beat the Channel, produced by Florida Entertainment for ProSieben (local title: Joko & Klaas gegen ProSieben), is a big hit in Germany and continues to grow in popularity. It will premiere in Spain on Antena 3 in 2024.

Carmen Ferreiro, director of Entertainment Programs at Atresmedia Televisión, mentioned that they continue to bet on the most internationally successful formats. “This program combines humor, spectacle, and three powerful presenters; it has all the ingredients we look for in an Antena 3 program, entertainment that continues to surprise the viewer,” she said.

Beat the Channel is a primetime entertainment format, full of energy and totally original, in which two popular TV presenters have the chance to win a 15-minute live slot where anything goes!

In Spain, two of the country’s most charismatic presenters, Roberto Leal and Iñaki López, will join forces to face a series of physical and mental challenges. At the end of each episode, it will be decided whether the duo has won or lost against the network. If they win, they will secure valuable time in front of the camera to do and say whatever they want. If they lose, they will be at the network’s disposal for a whole day! Eva Gonzalez will host Lopez y Leal contra el canal.

Tim Gerhartz, CEO of Red Arrow Studios International, said they are delighted that Antena 3 has commissioned Beat the Channel. “Networks worldwide are looking for entertainment formats that differentiate their schedules, and this format, with its high energy, fun stunts, games, and celebrity guests, ticks all the boxes. After its huge success in Germany, we are confident that Spanish viewers will enjoy this loud and fun hit perfect for family viewing.”

Edi Walter, CEO of Boxfish, noted that it is a dream come true for them. “Having the opportunity to produce such a powerful format for Atresmedia with such great presenters is what every production company wants. Beat The Channel is an entertainment format with original mechanics and a lot of humor; fundamental requirements to conquer the hearts of the audience in our country and anywhere in the world,” he said.
