Variety revealed the French telco will delve into original series production, with a first project already commissioned to The Mediapro Studio.
Following in Movistar+’s footsteps and what’s been done by the company itself in France, French telecommunications operator Orange will delve into original series production in Spain.
The news was revealed on Monday by Variety, which added the first original series for Orange in Spain will be produced by The Mediapro Studio.
Still untitled, the series was commissioned to production company 100 Balas (part of The Mediapro Studio and known for its comedy Vota Juan for TNT Spain), which will begin production this year.
The series is described as a suspense thriller “with high doses of adrenaline” for a teen audience.
It was created and written by Jose Antonio Perez Ledo, whose credits include Orbita Laika on RTVE and Escepticos on ETB.
Orange becomes a new player in the original production arena in Spain, a segment dominated by Atresmedia and Mediaset, which was recently seen the addition of others like Netflix, Amazon and HBO, Fox and TNT, and telcos like Movistar.
