OGM Pictures produces both series, that are distributed internationally by Eccho Rights
Hit Turkish drama series Ömer and Golden Boy, both distributed internationally by Eccho Rights, will return with new seasons in the autumn, having been renewed by broadcaster Star TV.
Ömer launched in January 2023, and has performed impressively, particularly in the AB commercial demo, where the series regularly ranks at number one in the ratings and more than doubles Star’s average share.
Golden Boy, since launching in September 2022, has maintained its position as the most watched drama series across all channels each week in Turkey, with audiences regularly in excess of 10 million each Friday for the romantic drama. International distributor Eccho Rights has now licensed the series to more than 40 territories worldwide, with many more deals currently in the works.
“The success of these two series reflects that romantic dramas remain a top draw for audiences. But both of these series come with a twist on the traditional love story setups, that elevate them into must see primetime viewing,” says Handan Özkubat, director of Turkish Drama at Eccho Rights.
Both titles are produced by OGM Pictures the team behind a string of high concept, top rating drama series in recent years, with series including My Home My Destiny, The Red Room and Chrysalis all becoming long running, returning hits and international sales successes.
Ömer’s life turns upside down when he falls in love with Gamze, a relationship that his conservative father will never approve of. Gamze is a middle aged woman, struggling to start over her life as a single mother, when she finds an unexpected comfort in Ömer’s love, who is much younger than her. Over time, Ömer and Gamze try to overcome the strict rules and the conflicts that both of their families put them through. But the many obstacles turn Ömer and Gamze’s love into an impossible one… The series stars Gökçe Bahadir, Selahattin Pasali and Baris Falay.
Golden Boy is a classic family drama that tells the story of two sisters, Seyran and Suna, whose paths cross with golden boy Ferit. The two sisters’ lives change forever when Ferit decides to marry Seyran instead of Suna. Seyran will be the new bride in a family full of betrayals, lies and secrets. The series stars Afra Saraoğlu, Mert Ramazan Demir & Çetin Tekindor.
