Francisco Villanueva, COO of Somos Group, spoke with ttvnews at the event about the new Turkish content that they are presenting and their expectations for the coming year.
Loaded with news in terms of Turkish dramas, Somos arrived at Content Americas with great expectations for its catalog in the international market.
“It’s a joy to be in Miami, first because it’s our home and second because it’s a market that’s always happy,” Francisco Villanueva, COO of Somos Distribution, told ttvnews.
“We are presenting a couple of Turkish contents. We have an eight-episode series called Behzat and it is doing well in Turkey. And we have Love for Rent, which is a very successful telenovela and is being well received by clients in Latin America.” .
An eight-episode crime thriller series, produced by Atlas Media, Behzat features a rude, violent and morally ambiguous police officer who is the head of the homicide department in Ankara. His team consists of five people: Harun, Hayalet (Ghost), Akbaba (Vulture), Cevdet, Selim and Eda. Behzat Ç and his team usually work together with the prosecutor Esra, who later becomes his love interest. They perseverely hunt down criminals and solve murders while sometimes (and often unintentionally) getting involved in different cases.
Meanwhile, Love for Rent has 202 episodes and follows the story of the waitress Defne, who, attracted by the intrigues of a rich family, agrees to try to win the heart of businessman Ömer for money, but the plot risks unraveling when she finds herself torn between him and his partner Sinan.
The distributor is also presenting the Greek dramas, Wild Bees and Sasmos; and the comedy titles Enchufe.TV, from Ecuador, and Novocomedy, from France.
“We hope for a successful 2023, the market is very changing but we are sure that we will have a happy year for everyone,” he concluded.
