The series will premiere in Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Latin America, Luxembourg, Spain, Netherlands, the Nordics and the UK.
Starzplay, the international premium streaming service from Starz, announced that it acquired Queer as Folk from NBCUniversal Global Distribution for its service in Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Latin America, Luxembourg, Spain, Netherlands, the Nordics and the UK.
The eight-episode series will premiere in the UK on Friday, 1 July, with other local premieres rolling out exclusively in Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Latin America, Luxembourg, Spain, Netherlands and the Nordics on Sunday, 31st July. Two new episodes will be available each week.
Produced by UCP, a division of the Universal Studio Group, Queer as Folk is Stephen Dunn’s vibrant reimagining of the groundbreaking British series created by Russell T. Davies (It’s A Sin, Doctor Who), and explores a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy.

The series stars Devin Way (Grey’s Anatomy) as Brodie, Fin Argus (The Gifted) as Mingus, Jesse James Keitel (Big Sky) as Ruthie, CG as Shar, Johnny Sibilly (Hacks) as Noah and Ryan O’Connell (Special) as Julian. O’Connell also serves as a writer and co-executive producer on the series.
Guest stars this season include Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City) as Brenda, Juliette Lewis (Yellowjackets, Cape Fear) as Judy, Ed Begley Jr (Better Call Saul, A Mighty Wind) as Winston, Armand Fields (Work in Progress) as Bussey, Chris Renfro (Reno 911!) as Daddius, Eric Graise (Step Up: High Water) as Marvin, Sachin Bhatt (Grace & Frankie) as Ali, Benito Skinner as Jack Cole Jordan, Nyle DiMarco (Dancing with the Stars), Lukas Gage (The White Lotus, Love, Victor) as Eric, Megan Stalter (Hacks) as Meg, Olli Haaskivi (Manifest) as George and Calvin Seabrooks (4400) as Taylor.
Dunn is creator, writer and executive producer of the series; he also directed the pilot and additional episodes. Jaclyn Moore (Dear White People, Love Life) also serves as an executive producer and writer on the show. Other executive producers include Lee Eisenberg (WeCrashed, The Office), Emily Brecht (Turnt, Smilf), original British series creator Davies, Nicola Shindler (It’s A Sin, Finding Alice) and Louise Pedersen on behalf of All3 Media International, which distributes both the format and the original British series produced by Red Productions for Channel 4. Brian Dannelly also serves as executive producer and directed several episodes.
