Executive Pepe Huertas has just inaugurated the Madrid-based headquarters of his new venture Tres Vacas, a production company focused on developing scripted series with a global reach, whose main ingredients are passion and expertise. In addition, the indie has the backing of the worldwide success enjoyed by its team’s previous works.
With over 30 years in the television industry, Huertas has a prolific career with stints at Spanish broadcasters Antena 3 and Canal+ or the famous production company Globomedia (now part of The Mediapro Studio). For his new professional chapter, he is joined by writers and showrunners Pilar Nadal and Felipe Mellizo, creators of the most successful Spanish fiction formats in terms of both ratings and international sales, with credits including ‘Médico de Familia’ (Family Doctor, 1995-1999), ‘Compañeros’ (1998-2002), ‘Periodistas’ (1998-2002), ‘Un Paso Adelante’ (One Step Forward, 2002-2005), ‘Águila Roja’ (Red Eagle, 2009-2016), or more recently ‘Parot’ (Best Screenplay award at the Berlin TV Series Festival 2021) and ‘El Cid’, both available on Amazon Prime Video.
Both auteurs have been involved in drama series which ranked among the top spots in total viewing on the main Spanish networks and were successfully broadcasted in over 70 countries worldwide. Their whole work has been recognised by several Association of Latin Entertainment Critics of New York’s ACE Awards, eight Ondas Awards and more than 40 Iris Awards granted by the Spanish Academy of Television.
The prodco is therefore a solid project supported by a team whose talent, understanding and expertise in media management skills grant them a better overview of both the international market and trends:
“Our aim is to conceive relatable stories capable of engaging with the audience from the first minute, based on in-depth character development that allows us to construct long and strong narrative arcs”, said Huertas, founding partner and managing director of Tres Vacas. “We become closely involved in our productions from start to finish in order to accomplish high-quality series”.
Tres Vacas stands for different meanings: its initials refer to the T-V acronym for the television industry but also allude to the alliance of these three professionals who have jointly worked in the industry for almost a century.
