This Monday, July 19, the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid served as the venue for announcing the finalists for the 8th edition of the Platinum Ibero-American Film and Audiovisual Awards, which each year adds more categories dedicated to television fiction.
After announcing their shortlist of candidate films and series, now actresses Belén Rueda and Paulina García and director Manolo Caro were in charge of revealing the definitive list of titles that will compete in the gala that will take place in Madrid on October 3.
And in the series section, this edition added the new category Best series creator, to reach a total of six shortlists.
Of the 24 nominations (four per category), Netflix leads as the screen with the most series or performers in competition, with 14. HBO Spain (7) and Movistar+ (3) are the other two platforms that manage to place original productions in this edition .
By titles, the Spanish Patria (HBO Spain) is the one with the most nominations, receiving five, including Best Series, Best Creator (Aitor Gabilondo) and three for its actresses: Elena Irureta, Susana Abaitua and Loreto Mauleón.
With four nominations come three original Netflix productions: the Spanish-Mexican Alguien tiene que morir, the Colombian El robo del sigo and the Spanish La casa de papel.
The other film miniseries or teleseries that will compete in some category in this edition of the Platinum Awards are Antidisturbios (Movistar+), 30 monedas (HBO Spain), El desorden que dejas (Netflix) and La casa de las flores (Netflix).
In cinema, meanwhile, the candidates for Best Ibero-American fiction film are El olvido que seremos, La llorona, Las niñas and Nuevo orden.
