David Zaslav, current CEO of Discovery and future CEO of the new entity, announced that the new company will be called Warner Bros. Discovery.
In mid-May WarnerMedia and Discovery surprised the industry by announcing their merger. Along with the news, it was revealed that David Zaslav, current CEO of Discovery, will be the CEO of the new entity.
And now, Zaslav himself revealed the great detail that was missing: the name.
According to the executive, the new company would be named Warner Bros. Discovery.
Along with the name, a logo and a tagline were revealed: “The stuff that dreams are made of”.
The imagery appeals to classic Hollywood and to highlight the name of the film studio, Warner Bros. However, it is important to note that the revealed logo will not be the end, but rather it is an “initial work.”
“Warner Bros. Discovery will aspire to be the most innovative, fun and exciting place for storytelling in the world,” said Zaslav.
“We love the new company name because it represents the combination of Warner Bros. magic, creative heritage and authentic storytelling with the global Discovery brand, a benchmark of integrity, innovation and inspiration,” he added.
The WarnerMedia and Discovery merger is valued at US$ 43 billion. The new company will be 71% owned by AT&T and 29% by Discovery.
