The Swedish distributor took 110 buyers from around the world to Istanbul for an exclusive screening, to present its new productions.
With an increasingly big catalog, news from all over the world and new hits from Turkey, Swedish distributor Eccho Rights decided to do something different this year ahead of Mipcom.
So the company took partners, and current and potential clients to an exclusive screening in Istanbul during the weekend prior to the event, welcoming over 110 buyers from Latin America, Europe and Asia.
The screening took place at the Feriye Palace by the Bosphorus in the Turkish capital.
“At Eccho Rights we have a very good development at the moment so we thought we would do something different for Mipcom,” Fredrik af Malmborg, managing director at Eccho Rights, said to ttvnews.
“So instead of asking our clients to meet us in Nice, we decided to meet with most of them in Istanbul,” he added.
Called Eccho Rights Screening, the event was the place for the company to showcase its latest productions, including titles from Turkey, Portugal, Scandinavia, Romania and Korea.
“We also shared some knowledge about how to acquire the next big hit, how to develop and how to produce content, through conferences with local producers and showrunners,” he said.
Will the event take place again next year? “We still don’t know, but it could be, maybe in a different city, we’ll see,” he said.
New Titles
During the intense event, which ended with a major party for everyone in attendance, Eccho Rights pitched several new titles for its clients.
From Turkey -the star of the show- the company presented five series, which join classics like Elif, Wounded Birds or Stiletto Vendetta, to name a few.
The first was My Sweet Lie, a production by O3 Medya which airs in Turkey on Star TV. It stars Furkan Palali and Asli Bekiroglu , along with child star Lavinya Ünlüer, better known as Mila on Stiletto Vendetta.
The company also presented The Promise, the latest production from Karamel Yapim (Prisoner of Love) in Turkey, which airs successfully on Kanal 7.
There’s also Everywhere I Go, from Karga Seven, which aired successfully this summer on Fox Turkey, starring Furkan Andic and Aybüke Pusat in the lead roles.
Lastly, Eccho Rights presented two new series from Surec Film: Sisterhood, on air on Star TV, and North Star, the latest hit from Show TV.
The new titles from Turkey were joined by two dramas from Portugal, the first in Eccho Rights’ history: Water Mirror and Heart and Soul, both from the country’s leading broadcaster, SIC.
In regard to its Nordic series, the company celebrated the triumph of Invisible Heroes, which was named Best Ficcion at Prix Europa, and presented two other titles: romantic comedy Swipping and drama Honour.
Lastly, the distributor presented two Korean titles from CJ E&M’s vast catalog, Class of Lies and the third season of drama Voice; and the Romanian series, Vlad, an adaptation of Turkey’s Ezel.
