April 30 is the deadline to present fiction series projects in the co-production and short-form categories. And now, international co-production projects do not have to be between countries in America and Europe.
The fifth edition of Conecta Fiction, which this year repeats its hybrid format, gets underway. The organization announced that from this Friday, March 5, until April 30, 2021, fiction series projects will be able to be presented.
The two open calls are Pitch Copro Series, dedicated to series seeking international co-production, and Pitch Short-Form Series, to series with episodes of a maximum of 25 minutes.
The new thing for this year is that the Pitch Copro Series is open to pan-regional co-production. If until now the projects had to link a country in America and another in Europe, now they can involve two or more countries from a single continent.
For both categories, the finalist projects will be announced in June (28 to 30) during the opening gala of the online event, and will be defended by their representatives in September (13 to 17) virtually or in person at the Baluarte headquarters , Pamplona (Navarra, Spain).
In addition, Conecta Fiction will present the projects selected for its other two contests: Pitch Clips, from the Spanish screenwriters union ALMA, whose call will shortly be communicated directly by the union to its partners; and the SGAE Foundation Pitch, in which the projects of the entity’s VIII Laboratory for the Creation of Television Series participate exclusively and whose call was closed in February 2021.
CONFIRMED AWARDS
As of the opening date of the calls, RTVE has confirmed that it will once again award an award for the development of a project from those selected in the Pitch Copro Series or the SGAE Foundation sessions.
And Playz – RTVE’s platform aimed at young audiences – will also award a prize to the development of a project from among those selected in the Short-Form Series category.
On the other hand, Acorde -Music Library & SFX’s 360º music supervision division- will award a project in the Short-Form Series category with free access to its catalog of production music, music supervision services and advice on rights management musicals.
ARPA Abogados Consultores also renews its commitment and as a reward it will provide 10 hours of specialized consulting and legal advice to one of the projects that participate in any of the sessions of the fifth edition.

PITCH COPRO SERIES 2021
Essentially international call for fiction series and miniseries. As a novelty, it is open to pan-regional co-production, not being necessary for the project to link both continents.

Fiction series projects with episodes of a maximum duration of 25 minutes. The projects must be in the development phase.

Call that will be held in the coming days from the Spanish screenwriters union (ALMA) and exclusively for its members.
