The Turkish drama distributed by Global Agency will make its debut on the pay TV channel next Monday, February 8 at 7:00 p.m.
Mother, the Turkish drama distributed internationally by Global Agency, continues to conquer screens internationally.
Pasiones, the Spanish-language telenovela and drama channel, announced its US premiere for Monday, February 8, starting at 7:00 p.m. ET, under the title Madre.
“Madre is an incredible series, scrutinizing the multifaceted and sometimes contentious dynamic that can exist between mothers and daughters through its depiction of various maternal relationships. It also sheds light on the all-too-real issues of child abuse and neglect, issues that have become even more salient during the COVID-19 pandemic; the drama adds in the angle of personal and societal responsibility in the face of these problems as well,” said Marina Dimitrius, senior director of programming and on air promotions for Hemisphere Media Group, Inc, Pasiones’ parent company.
“We strive to provide our audiences not only with premium, high quality content, but also endeavor to include content that can spark conversation and raise awareness of important subjects. We are committed to airing the most compelling dramas the industry has to offer, and Madre undoubtedly fits the bill.”
Originally titled Anne, Mother is a MedYapım and MF Yapım co-production starring Cansu Dere, the star of hit Ottoman productions such as Sila and Ezel.
The series, named the most exported in Turkey in 2019, conquered audiences in dozens of countries, including several in Latin America and Spain, where last week Atresmedia announced plans for its local adaptation.
It tells the story of Zeynep (Dere), a young substitute teacher who, upon learning that one of her students, Melek (Beren Gökyıldız, only six years old), is being abused by her parents, makes the impulsive decision to kidnap her and start a new life with the girl, becoming her “surrogate mother” and having various adventures together.
The series also features performances by Vahide Perçin (The Sultan, Feriha’s Secret), Serhat Teoman and Gonca Vuslateri.
It is based on the Japanese series of the same name, produced in 2010 by Nippon TV. In Turkey it was broadcast by Star TV in the 2016-2017 season.
Its international distribution is managed by Global Agency.
