The Spanish channel announced that it is in the process of casting contestants for its local edition of the British dance competition format, distributed by Fremantle.

To meet the increase in demand for entertainment and feel-good programs driven by the pandemic, TVE announced that it will soon launch a new competition format for its screen.

The Spanish channel revealed on social media that it is looking for participants for “a dance talent show based on a successful international format.”

And as revealed by Spanish website, Yotele, it is the local adaptation of The Greatest Dancer, the British format first aired on the BBC.

The original format is a Thames and Syco Entertainment production, based on an idea by Simon Cowell, creator of internationally successful formats such as X Factor.

The Greatest Dancer is distributed internationally by Fremantle, who will also develop the Spanish version. Fremantle has a long history of successful formats in Spain, such as Got Talent on Telecinco or Mask Singer on Antena 3.

The format looks for the next big dance star, be it groups or soloists, who perform live each week to compete for a cash prize and the opportunity to perform in Strictly Come Dancing.
