The president of Banijay for the Americas becomes the first Latino to hold this position.
The Television Academy Foundation announced this week the election of a new board of directors, which will be headed for the first time by a Latino: Cris Abrego, who was named president of the institution.
His mandate, they added, will be for two years until December 31, 2022.
Along with Abrego, the new board will consist of: Jonathan Murray, co-founder of Bunim/Murray Productions; Deborah Bradley, President of Bungalo Homes, Amherst; and Billie Greer, public policy consultant.
“I am excited and honored to serve as the president of the Foundation and look forward to working with the board and staff to build a more inclusive entertainment industry,” Abrego said.
“During these unprecedented times, we are increasing our outreach to help more students.”
