The Spanish version of the most popular format of the moment premiered on Antena 3 as the best entertainment premiere of the last eight years and as the most watched of 2020. A second season would already be underway.
The Masked Singer phenomenon keeps getting bigger. The premiere of the Spanish version, titled Mask Singer: adivina quién canta, exceeded all expectations this Wednesday, November 4 on Antena 3.
The adaptation of the popular Korean format achieved audience figures that are no longer seen on Spanish linear TV: 27.4% share, equivalent to 3,740,000 viewers.
With these numbers, Mask Singer became the most watched show on prime time, of the day and of the entire season, in addition to becoming the best entertainment premiere of the last eight years, since September 2012.
Thus, Antena 3 achieved absolute leadership in prime time with a 19.6% share (+5.6 points over its rival), its highest result in the stellar segment of the course and since July 2019.
The talent show also won the “golden minute” of the day, when about 4.4 million viewers (30.2% of the audience) followed the moment in which the researchers bet on who could be behind the peacock mask. During its broadcast, more than 7 million people contacted the premiere at some point.
In turn, the premiere of Mask Singer also blew up on social networks: #MaskSingerEstreno was the first national trending topic throughout the night and also the second trending topic worldwide.
In addition, the show achieved another 34 trending topics and was the leader in social share, remaining that way throughout its broadcast, reaching 66%. It was the broadcast with the most tweets and social authors of the day. During the broadcast day, it accumulated 77,784 tweets by 19,886 unique authors on Twitter and 40 million impressions on social networks.
Mask Singer: adivina quién canta, an adaptation of the Korean phenomenon King of Masked Singer by MBC by Fremantle Spain, is presented by Arturo Valls and has Javier Calvo, Javier Ambrossi, Malú and José Mota as judges.
The extraordinary data from Mask Singer added to the great performance of other programs on the Atresmedia network to take it to achieve its highest daily audience since July 2019, with 15.1%. In addition to the contest, they were leaders in their strips: Antena 3 Noticias 2, El Hormiguero 3.0, Pasapalabra and Antena 3 Noticias 1.
In parallel, news platform El Confidencial Digital revealed Antena 3 has already confirmed a second season of Mask Singer, which will begin filming in January and will also have eight episodes.
