The new telenovela, Imperio de mentiras, based on the Turkish drama by Inter Medya, premiered on Las estrellas this Monday.
Televisa’s network, Las estrellas, premiered its telenovela Imperio de mentiras on Monday, which debuted as the primetime leader of Mexican TV with more than 2.8 million viewers, according to data from Nielsen IBOPE Mexico.
With that number, the episode beat its competition by 16%.
The telenovela is based on the Turkish drama Kara Para Aşk, distributed by Inter Medya and broadcast in Spanish-speaking countries as Amor de contrabando or Amor y dinero.
The Mexican version is produced by Giselle González and stars Angelique Boyer and Andrés Palacios.
It tells the story of Elisa Cantú, a successful art curator who, upon returning to Mexico from New York, where she resides, encounters an unexpected tragedy that will change her life.
It also features performances by Alejandro Camacho, Leticia Calderón, Susana González and Juan Martín Jáuregui, among others.
It airs from Monday to Friday, at 9:30 p.m., on Las estrellas.
