The Brazilian telenovela won the highest award at the Seoul Drama Awards, which also awarded Bolívar for Best Drama.
This Tuesday, September 15, the Seoul Drama Awards, the most prestigious television award in Asia, were presented in South Korea.
And this year Latin America had a special participation at the gala, with the recognition obtained by Orphans of a Nation (Globo), which won the Grand Prix, the highest award given.
The award comes in addition to the Rose D’Or Awards won last year.
Sold in more than 50 countries around the world, Orphans of a Nation was written by Thelma Guedes and Duca Rachid – winner of the International Emmy for Best Telenovela in 2014 for Preciosa Perla – and directed by Gustavo Fernández.
It tells the story of two Syrian refugees who need to leave their homeland and go to Brazil to rebuild their lives.
“Receiving this award is one of the many joys that this work brought us. We were lucky that the series worked well in Brazil and that now it is touching emotions all over the world,” said Gustavo Fernández.
“Achieving this award that other years has been won by series such as This Is Us and Babylon Berlin fills us with pride,” he added.
In addition, Colombian series Bolívar won this year the award in the Serial Drama category, beating content from Turkey, China, the Philippines and Taiwan.

Bolívar has a powerful history with high production standards, which have made it an international hallmark of the quality of our brand’s content,” said Lisette Osorio, VP of International Sales at Caracol Televisión.
Juana Uribe, Bolívar’s writer, added: “It is very gratifying to see how our general Bolívar continues to conquer and triumph in distant lands. One more sample of how universal our stories can be when they are done with rigor, affection and quality.”
Starring Luis Gerónimo Abreu as an adult Bolívar, José Ramón Barreto as a young Bolívar and the renowned Ecuadorian actress Shany Nadan as Manuelita Sáenz; Bolívar approaches aspects of the hero, before becoming a legend, showing Simón behind Bolívar: a passionate man on the battlefield and outside of it.
This award joins other important distinctions such as: 7 India Catalina Awards, Best Series at Cana Dorada Film Festival and 3 Produ Awards, including Best Series.
