Following its acquisition by Amazon Prime Video for SVOD, the super production by Dopamine and Onza Entertinament has confirmed its TV screens in Mexico and LatAm.
Azteca 7 (TV Azteca) and History announced the acquisition and exclusive TV premiere of Hernán, the epic drama develped and produced by Mexico’s Dopamine and Spain’s Onza Entertainment.
The announcement comes on the same week as Amazon Prime Video confirmed it will be its first OTT screen in Latin America and Spain.
The superproduction features an international cast headed by Óscar Jaenada, Michel Brown, Dagoberto Gama, Jorge Guerrero, Víctor Clavijo, Almagro San Miguel, and the debut of Ishbel Bautista.
Hernán has one of the highest investments for a series in Spanish made in Mexico and with incredible special effects by El Ranchito, a company recognized for its unforgettable and award-winning work in Game of Thrones.
A historical series of eight episodes in its first season, set in 1519, it tells the story of the conquest of Mexico from the perspective of each of the protagonists of this adventure (Marina / Malitzin, Moctezuma, Pedro Alvarado, Xicoténcatl, Cristóbal de Olid, Bernal Díaz del Castillo, Gonzalo de Sandoval and Cortés himself).
In each episode, viewers will discover the conquest of Mexico, confronting the myth against reality from the emotion and human drama of each of its protagonists.
The series, which will premiere in the framework of the 500 years of the arrival of Hernán Cortés in Mexico, will show not only the encounter and contrast of these two cultures, but will also show the human side of this beloved and hated figure of History: Hernán, a skilled diplomat with moral ambiguity and military genius, with a human side and a very dark side.
The story of Cortes is full of fascination for an unknown land, a passion for a people that could not control, betrayal within the family of Cortes and an unexpected love for La Malinche.
