Netflix has revealed the first images of the characters for its new original Spanish anime series, Memorias de Idhún, whose world premiere is scheduled for 2020.
Alsan, Jack, Victoria, Shail and Kirtash are the protagonists of the story, which in this clip come to life and fill with color from the strokes of a notebook:
Written by Laura Gallego and Andrés Carrión, Memorias de Idhún is an adaptation of La resistance, the first volume of the self-titled bestseller published more than 15 years ago, translated into 14 languages and which continues to be a success today.
The project, produced by Zeppelin, is the first original Spanish animation series in anime style on Netflix.
It took more than two years to carry out this innovative production, which will be available in more than 190 countries and whose animation process has been carried out in Vitoria-Gasteiz by a team of more than 20 local professionals who have been in charge of recreating the world of Idhún and transport its characters to the screen.
“His creativity, combined with the quality of the animation design, have shaped an epic story full of friendship, emotion and action,” says Netflix.
Memorias de Idhún consists of five episodes directed by Maite Ruiz de Austri, winner of two Goya Awards for Best Animated Film, and who becomes the first woman who directs an anime series in Spain.
