Jeff Shell, the new CEO of NBCUniversal, announced that the until now president of Telemundo will go on to lead the group’s News division. Conde’s replacement will be announced soon. In addition, he created the TV & Streaming division, headed by Mark Lazarus.
Jeff Shell, CEO of NBCUniversal since January 1, 2020, replacing Steve Burke, continues to modify the company’s executive structure.
This Monday, he announced a major restructuring that divides the media group according to its functions.
On the one hand, Mark Lazarus was named president of the new NBCUniversal Television and Streaming division, under which are Telemundo, NBC Entertainment, the US cable channels (USA, SYFY, Bravo, Oxygen, E! And Universal Kids), international channels and Peacock, the group’s new streaming platform.
On the other, César Conde -until now president of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and NBCUniversal International Group- was promoted to president of NBCUniversal News Group, a single division that will unite NBC News, MSNBC and CNBC.
The company announced that the replacement of Conde in the presidency of Telemundo and the International division will be announced soon. Meanwhile, the Telemundo team will report to Lazarus, who also became head of the NBC Sports Group.
In his new role, the executive will report directly to Shell.
