The culinary competition format MasterChef Latino, as well as new seasons of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Trading Spaces will premiere on Discovery Home and Health across the region.

Endemol Shine International announced they have licensed MasterChef Latino (seasons 1 and 2), and new seasons of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Trading Spaces to Discovery Latin America for their Discovery Home and Health channel across the region.
The deal was negotiated by Veronique Verges, Endemol Shine International’s SVP, Latin America and US Hispanic.
“Discovery Home & Health has positioned itself as the leader in the lifestyle genre, driven by the success of its themed programming, such as its Home and Food nights. Adding iconic shows such as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Trading Spaces to our already strong Home renovation portfolio will continue to add further momentum,” said Carolina Lightcap, Chief Content Officer, Discovery Latin America/US Hispanic.
“We are also excited to announce Masterchef Latino, a spinoff with local flavor that promises to become another important component of our Food nights, which have included the MasterChef franchise for several years now.”
“We are excited that MasterChef Latino has found its home across Latin America and the Discovery Home and Health audience will also be able to enjoy the new Season 10 of award-winning Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and the second series of the rebooted Trading Spaces,” said Cathy Payne, Chief Executive of Endemol Shine International.
Produced by Endemol Shine Boomdog for Telemundo, this first Spanish-language MasterChef version in the US brings the culture, the food, the flavours and the seasonings of Latin American countries. There’s a diverse representation of participants who love cooking and who can create anything, from delicious Texan enchiladas and California fish tacos, to Puerto Rican mofongo, among others, but only one will be crowned the winner of the MasterChef Latino crown and a grand cash prize of $100,000 dollars.
The series just wrapped having rated as Telemundo’s number one show on Sunday nights and reaching 7.2 million viewers overall.
A No.1 rated show from the UK to the US, Sweden to Spain, Italy to Israel and beyond, television’s toughest talent series has become a truly global hit. Now produced in over 60 markets worldwide, MasterChef is watched globally by over 300 million viewers and has transformed over 100 amateur chefs into professionals.
The MasterChef format and finished programmes are represented internationally by Endemol Shine Group, and is based on a format originally created by Franc Roddam.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is making a comeback to the US with ten fresh episodes hosted by Jesse Tyler Ferguson for HGVT. The highest-rated home renovation series of all time ran for nine seasons on ABC from 2003 until 2012. HGTV have come onboard for Season 10 and will showcase new superstar experts in the weekly race to complete a custom, whole home renovation for one deserving family.
The new episodes are expected to premiere in early 2020. The original 147 x 60’ and 62 x 120 episodes have recently been digitally remastered in HD.
Based on the original Endemol Shine UK show Changing Rooms, Trading Spaces first premiered in the US back in 2000 on TLC and was the first home makeover series of its kind which launched a generation of shows to follow in the television home design genre. Two sets of neighbor’s trade rooms for two days and, with the help of a designer and carpenter, makeover a room with a budget of US$2000.
The series returned to TLC in 2018 after a ten year hiatus and is now in its second season. Trading Spaces is produced by Authentic Entertainment, a subsidiary of Endemol Shine North America.
