Kanal D International has licensed the successful Turkish drama to Kanal D Romania, marking the sixth territory for the series.
Kanal D Intertnational continues to take its hit drama Ruthless City to all corners of the world, announcing a new sale to Kanal D Romania.
“Ruthless City has gathered some of the most prominent directors, scriptwriters and producers that we know from previous hit Turkish dramas with great international success. The story is giving the audience a duality governed by the balance of light and darkness, within each of us,” said Ekin Koyuncu, Kanal D International’s CEE Sales Executive.
“I believe, these humanly instincts and the strength of the story telling are some of the factors lying behind the success of the title. Production team has already started working for the 2nd season in Antakya, where the story originally was born and we are excitedly waiting for the new season.”

Directed by Cevdet Mercan and written by successful writer Sırma Yanık, the successful drama’s first episode was watched by 6 million unique viewers when it first aired on Kanal D and by 21 million viewers in total from the re-runs within 7 days.
This represents more than 36% of the total panel in Turkey.
It stars Fikret Kuşkan, Deniz Uğur, Mine Tugay, Ozan Dolunay, Simay Barlas, Berker Güven, Bahar Şahin, Sera Kutlubey, İdris Nebi Taşkan, Ayşen Sezerel and Gamze Demirbilek.
Synopsis:
Seher is a proud, traditional and conservative mother living with her 2 daughters, her son and her mother in law, in a small town in Antakya, a city south east of Turkey. All of her 3 children are the apples of her eyes, she loves and believes in them blindly. But her children have separate lives, dreams and ambitions which Seher doesn’t know yet.
Her family’s life changes dramatically when her mother in law makes a deal to sell one of her daughters to a wealthy man from her hometown, Agah Karaçay, who has a crippled nephew. She keeps the marriage with the cripple nephew as a secret and twits the story of this marriage to convience Seher to move to Istanbul as a family.
Seher and her family were obliged to move to Istanbul after their home was burnt down. Agah welcomes them in the mansion without knowing the Neriman’s twisted details about the marriage and a new encounter will be a test for each an every person in both families.
