The event concluded an edition that combined its traditional business with new initiatives, driven by a clear goal to modernize and remain attractive to an industry undergoing transformation, while reaffirming its commitment to keep its place on the annual calendar, with dates already announced for its return next year.

While most attendees traditionally close their agendas and end their market experience on day three, Mipcom 2026 officially closed its doors this Thursday, ending an edition that put the focus on reinventing itself to move alongside the industry’s changes.

The four-day conference’s main goal this year was to introduce new players into the mix, opening the door to new business models and opportunities; while highlighting the increasingly connected nature of the global industry, reflecting four areas of growth for Mipcom: brands, AI, verticals, and creators.

“These are not simply new communities sitting alongside the traditional market,” said Mipcom director, Lucy Smith. “We are bringing them here to create new business opportunities for the core industry.”

The introduction of Mip BrandWorks, Dhar Mann as the event’s first pre-opnening headliner, conferences on new technologies and microdramas, are all framed within Mipcom’s search of innovation and growth through new ventures.

Despite this new viewpoint, the 2026 edition did see a slight decrease in attendance from the year before, which was noticeable in the halls of the Palais, where a few missing stands and less movement than usual reflected this new reality.

Yet, Mipcom is still committed to being a must-attend event in the yearly callendar for the entertainment industry and is already looking to next year, with dates already announced: Mipcom 2027 will take place from October 18 through the 21.

“Mipcom Cannes will return in 2027, continuing to strengthen its core international content business while developing new opportunities across the wider entertainment industry,” Smith said.

And while the Palais des Festivals might not have been bursting at the seams with attendees, those who arrived with pre-arranged meeting schedules and agendas had equally productive markets as the years prior, as proven by the many announcements of alliances, sales, and deals, made throughout the first three days.

In addition, giants like Globo, Disney, or Banijay hosted special events to showcase their power of storytelling, while the Turkish companies made their presence known with their own special screenings, gala dinners, and lavish parties.

All in all, even though Mipcom has felt the effects of a changing industry, with economic woes and new business models, the event continues to be a mandatory stop for the entertainment industry to gather and connect in the French riviera.
