With Pure-bred (Pura sangre) sold to 28 territories and La Favorita (La favorita 1922) available in 98, Mediterráneo Mediaset is expanding the international reach of its Spanish scripted catalog. At Mipcom 2026, the company is also showcasing Marusía: Naval Academy (Marusía. Vientos de honor) and Olivia, which is being offered both as a finished series and for local adaptation.
Silvia Cotino was appointed Director of Sales, Distribution and Fiction at Mediterráneo Mediaset in early October, adding responsibility for the group’s scripted productions to her international sales and distribution duties.
“I’ve recently taken on a new role within Mediaset España’s fiction division, adding those responsibilities to my previous work in sales and distribution. I’m very grateful for the trust placed in me by my managers and for the support of a wonderful team. It’s a very young team, and we’re all working in the same direction to give the Mediterráneo and Mediaset brands, and the group’s content, the greatest possible visibility worldwide,” Cotino told ttv at Mipcom.
“At Iberseries, we presented several of our latest titles. One of them is Pure-bred, a series we produced with Shine Iberia that has already been sold to 28 territories. We’re very pleased, particularly because it’s a Spanish-language production that has managed to reach markets such as English-speaking audiences in the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Those are challenging markets for us,” she said.
Pure-bred is a scripted production from Shine Iberia for Mediaset España, set in a rural environment and starring Ángela Molina, Pep Munné, Aitor Luna and Amaia Salamanca.
Another addition to the catalog is Marusía: Naval Academy, produced by Mediaset España in collaboration with Unicorn Content and scheduled for Telecinco’s prime time.
“It’s a series that Telecinco will premiere soon. A group of cadets arrives at a naval academy where a suicide took place the previous year. On one side, there’s the investigation into what happened among those young people, and on the other, the arrival of the new cadets. It was actually filmed at the Naval Academy, so it has wonderful production values and real locations. We’re very happy with the result,” Cotino said.
“We also presented Olivia at Iberseries, a Studio60 and Womack production for Disney+ Spain. Mediterráneo handles international distribution. It’s a feel-good family drama from the creator of El chiringuito de Pepe, designed for audiences of all ages,” Cotino explained.
“At such a complicated time, it’s a series that offers viewers a smile throughout the six episodes of its first season. It’s set around the world of olive oil, and we’re also hoping to secure adaptation deals. We believe it’s a very strong concept for local remakes.”
La Favorita Closes In 100 Territories
“La Favorita has been one of our greatest successes in recent years. It’s currently available in 98 territories, so now we want to reach 100,” Cotino said with a laugh.
“It’s also available on different platforms depending on the market. In Spain, it’s on Netflix; in Latin America, we’ve worked with Flow and HBO Max, and we’ve also reached Belgium and Arab countries. It’s a series that has given us enormous satisfaction,” she added.
A New Joint Presence in Cannes
Mediterráneo’s participation at Mipcom 2026 also marks a step forward in the commercial collaboration between MFE-MediaForEurope and ProSiebenSat.1.
“For the first time at Mipcom, we’re sharing a stand as part of the MFE-MediaForEurope group, which Mediterráneo belongs to, alongside our colleagues at Seven. One Studios International,” Cotino said.
The joint space brings together Mediterráneo, Mediaset Distribution and Seven. One Studios International, with each company retaining its commercial identity as part of a broader strategy of international cooperation.
